Our First Blog-Hello and Welcome

Welcome to our very first blog.
Hello, my name is Simone, founder, owner and sewing lady of Little Truffles, I live in the middle of nowhere on the Norfolk/Suffolk border with my husband Jack, Daughter Penelope and our cat Thor. I have been sewing for 20 years but took it up seriously when I had my little girl, finding a love for quilting and sewing tiny clothes.

I briefly worked for Claybear as a seamstress (my dream job and forever my favourite) before they closed doors and through this realised sewing is what I wanted to keep doing. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase Claybear's remnant fabric from a warehouse clearance store to start my little business. Knowing the quality of the fabric and prints I was buying was incredibly important to me.
Recently I began to think about what direction I wanted to take the business in once these fabrics ran out. Around the same time I began to work as a rep for a new local fabric company which made the decision to choose my own prints and have them produced to order a very easy decision.
This is a huge change for us as it will mean a 6-8 week turnaround from the end of the pre order date, rather than making your beautiful items with in-stock fabric and shipping within a week or two!
However we know those of you who support small businesses like Little Truffles are already used to these turnaround times! And we will aim to keep the website stocked with items ready to ship or in stock for those quick fixes!
Alongside this I am really passionate about finding beautiful fabrics from warehouse clearance and charity shops, making small batch fashion and one off items from fabric which could otherwise have ended up in landfill. I will need an entire separate blog post to fully rant on about how passionate I am about sustainability in fashion.
If you've read this far, thank you, as I tend to waffle a bit.
I really cannot put into words how much your support has meant over the last several months since we launched. Every message, like, share, comment and purchase means everything to this lady, sat sewing little clothes in what is supposed to be her dining room, hoping she can one day afford to take her little girl to Disneyland.
I'm Incredibly excited for what the future will bring for us as a brand and I'd love to bring you all on the journey too.
Simone xx
